Show the calculation steps
- The SIP starts at ₹10,000.00 and is multiplied by 1.1 at the start of each new year, so the last year's SIP is ₹37,974.98.
- Every month: balance = (balance + SIP) × (1 + 1%), for 180 months.
- Amount invested = ₹38,12,697.80; estimated returns = ₹48,71,151.63.
- A flat SIP of ₹10,000.00 would reach ₹50,45,760.00.
- Returns are not guaranteed. The result assumes the same return every month.
Why step up?
Your income usually grows over time, so a SIP that grows with it keeps investing at the same effort while building a much larger corpus. Even a modest 5–10% yearly step-up can add up to a large difference over 15 to 20 years.
How it is calculated
The SIP for each year is the previous year's amount multiplied by one plus the step-up. Each monthly instalment then compounds at the monthly return until the end of the period.
Formula
SIP in year k = Starting SIP × (1 + step-up)^(k − 1)
Each month: balance = (balance + SIP) × (1 + i)
Where:
- i
- = Monthly return (annual ÷ 12 ÷ 100)
- step-up
- = Yearly increase in the SIP, as a decimal
